    Great Missenden Estate

    Great Missenden, UK

    System Size

    300 m²

    Annual Savings

    £48,000

    Project Overview

A prime example of the Teratherm Surface in action, this Great Missenden project combines luxury living with industrial-grade engineering. The system heats a 100,000-litre swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and a large helicopter hangar/workshop, all while generating over 200,000 kWh of energy annually.

    Maintains 100,000L pool at 28°C
    Jacuzzi maintained at 38°C

    The Challenge

The estate required a heating solution capable of managing diverse and high-demand thermal loads. This included maintaining a 15m x 5m swimming pool at a consistent 28°C year-round, keeping a Jacuzzi at 38°C, and heating a cavernous 480 m² helicopter hangar and workshop to 19°C. The client sought to achieve this without the exorbitant running costs associated with traditional fossil fuel heating.

    The Solution

We installed a 300 m² Teratherm system integrated into the estate's driveways and helipad surfaces. The system operates at high efficiency, generating 65-120 Watts per m² to harvest waste heat. This energy is directed to heat pumps that manage the distinct temperature zones: 28°C for the pool, 38°C for the spa, and 19°C for the workshop areas, ensuring optimal performance for both leisure and aviation maintenance.

    The Results

The estate now generates over 200,000 kWh of clean energy annually. Financial performance has been exceptional, with achieved savings of £48,000 against previous energy bills and a total electricity running cost of just over £4,200 per year. The system successfully maintains the 100,000-litre pool and large hangar at target temperatures year-round, significantly lowering the property's carbon emissions.
